If it weren't for a single Armco barrier, rally driver Tomasz Kasperczyk would have had a very bad day.
You probably don't think much of the guardrails lining the roads you drive on, but this clip will change that. At this past weekend's Rally Islas Canarias, a single guardrail prevented Tomasz Kasperczyk and his Ford Fiesta RS from tumbling down a mountain. As if you needed another reminder that while exciting, rally racing is often terrifying.
Per a post on his Facebook page, Kasperczyk indicates this crash was a result of a brake failure. You can see his right rear tire lock up just before hitting the guardrail. Amazingly, Kasperczyk and co-driver Damain Syty were able to get out of the car and walk away.
Unfortunately, Skoda racer Jan Černý didn't have the same luck as Kasperczyk when he too crashed into a guardrail later in the same event. Amazingly, he too walked away from this crash, despite rolling over a number of times.
