Indo-UK firm chugs into city with rail clip plant - The Hindu

Indo-UK joint venture Pandrol Rahee Technologies has set up a fastenings manufacturing plant in Hyderabad that can produce 4 million clips a year, mainly for the Indian rail market.

Equipped with an automated clip manufacturing line which incorporates an advanced coating technology process, the 3,500 sq. metre facility at IDA Bollarum here will produce, among other types, advanced Pandrol solutions that combine systems for high speed, heavy haul and long-life durability fastenings.

A release on the inauguration of the plant by Principal Secretary-MAUD to Telangana government Arvind Kumar said the facility would give the company greater capacity to respond to market requirements while creating new employment in the region.

The company is a joint venture between Pandrol of the UK and India’s Rahee Group, a railway infrastructure construction firm and manufacturer of railway track products.

Inaugurating the plant, in the presence of British Deputy High Commissioner (Telangana and Andhra Pradesh) Andrew Fleming and top executives of Pandrol and Rahee, Mr.Arvind Kumar assured all the required support from the State government.

Mr. Fleming said Metros have created an enormous impact in most major cities of India. “High speed rail will take domestic travel in India to yet another level, boosting prosperity everywhere it goes… happy that Pandrol is part of these prestigious projects.”

Established in 2005, Pandrol Rahee Technologies has been supplying resilient fastening system for ballastless track of Metro rail projects in the country. The new factory is expected to produce rail fasteners for Metro, Heavy Haul and High Speed projects, the release said.

Pandrol Rahee managing director Pradeep Khaitan said the factory already has a healthy pipeline of projects in Indian Metro and track rehabilitation in Bangladesh and Ghana where Indian finance is being used. The first railway to be built in Mauritius by L&T will also feature rail clips manufactured at the Hyderabad factory.

The facility will “provide a solid platform for generating sales in the region and follows Pandrol’s strategy of being both global and local, and bringing the best technology available,” said Guy Talbourdet, CEO, Delachaux, of which Pandrol is a subsidiary.
