A series of road works will be hitting Leicester starting this weekend, including in two busy streets. Leicester City Council has said it is timing the resurfacing and repair work to coincide with the summer holidays in an effort to minimise disruption.
They have said the work, which will cost over half a million pounds, will involve a series of road closures; however, diversions will be in place.
While most of the disruptions will last for one or two days, two bigger schemes are planned in Queens Road and Uppingham Road. The work on these two busy streets will involve longer closures.

Leicester deputy city mayor for environment and transportation, Cllr Adam Clarke, said: “This work is part of our ongoing investment in keeping roads across the city in good shape. Daily wear and tear from vehicles mean our roads regularly need to be repaired like this, and doing as much of the work as possible during holiday times means the disruption will be reduced.”
